Arrival at Bujumbura International Airport
Upon landing at Bujumbura International Airport, your personal driver-guide will be waiting to welcome you and brief you on your upcoming activities. You will then be transferred comfortably to your hotel.

7:00 am — Departure toward Rutana
After breakfast, your guide meets you at the hotel for a 7:00 am departure. The drive to Rutana takes approximately 4 hours through Burundi’s scenic southern landscapes, arriving around 11:00 am.

Karera Waterfalls, Rutana
Explore the spectacular Karera Waterfalls — one of Burundi’s most iconic natural attractions. A series of powerful cascades tumble through lush tropical forest, offering a breathtaking and refreshing hike. The falls are among the most photographed natural sights in the country.

Lunch in Rutana
Enjoy a well-earned lunch at one of Rutana’s top restaurants before continuing the drive north toward Gitega — Burundi’s new political capital.

Explore Gitega, Burundi’s political capital and cultural heart, before returning to your accommodation for the evening.

Gitega National Museum
After breakfast, visit the Gitega National Museum — Burundi’s premier cultural institution. Explore exhibits on traditional Burundian history, royal artefacts, craft, and the country’s rich pre-colonial heritage.

Gishora Drum Sanctuary
Experience the UNESCO-recognised Gishora Drum Sanctuary, home to Burundi’s legendary royal ingoma drummers. Be amazed by their athleticism — leaping into the air as they beat their drums with extraordinary speed and precision. You’ll even get the chance to try drumming and dancing yourself, making this one of the most memorable experiences of the tour.

Return to Bujumbura Airport
